Powder Coating efficiency, colour range and technique
Powder Coating is the most economical and environmentally friendly paint application technique available. The extremely efficient method produces a high quality finish in a selection of colours, finishes and textures.

Powder Coating colours
There are a wide range of colours available for the use of Powder Coating. It is important to ensure that when purchasing colours, that they are International RAL colours, meet the SABS standards and are compatible with Pantone standards.
There are usually a variety of colour series available, allowing customers to choose which type of product is best for their surface. Product characteristics differ according to various needs, e.g. Anti- weathering, high impact, high flexibility, UV attack, wear resistant, metallic colours etc. There are over 1688 colours to choose from, (through Powder- Lak,) allowing clients to make the most out of this popular painting technique.
Every colour is usually available in various finishes. When used in Powder Coating, a colour and specific finish will create an effect different to that of a standard surface. These finishes include:
- Semi- Matt
- Sandpaper- Texture
Most Powder Coating products and colours are available in Interior (Epoxy and Epoxy Polyester Hybrid) and Exterior (Polyester and Polyurethane.)
How does Powder Coating work?
Once a colour, finish and texture has been chosen by the client, powder is developed into a suitable formulation. Once the product is ready for application, it is sprayed onto the surface in a thin and even layer.
Static electricity holds the coat in place as there is no binder in the product to do so. Once the Powder Coating is complete, the object is placed into an oven, where the powder melts and bonds and then flows and fuses to create a continuous coating around the object.
This process makes the coating extremely hard and porous free.
Powder Coating provides a quality finish, however it is important to understand how to use the equipment is used and to ensure that each step is completed as carefully as the next.
